Busy first couple of weeks

Sorry this has taken so long! the first few weeks here have been VERY eventful. First with my wheelchair not keeping a charge. And poor Wesley having to push me uphill 5 blocks from the Lincoln Memorial. Then work starts and my technology is not all there so for the first two weeks I was not very useful. Now that I have my technology work is in full swing. Today I went to the Senate to meet with a senator to lobby for a treaty. I was in shock that I was there doing business! Turns out the senator got called away, but it was fine since I got to enjoy a practice run with all of his staffers. So that's the first couple of weeks in a nutshell. Sorry it took so long! I'll try to be better about updating this!

New favorite city

Well the past few days have been eventful. As I said before I left we got up at 4 and 5 respectively for Mom and I to fly out at 8. When we got there the plane had hydraulic problems. As many of you know flying with me is nothing but an adventure so when we get to ATL (3 hours late) the same thing happens again! at least it was a quick fix this time so we goth into DC around 5:30. We came to the dorm and realized that my hoyer lift wouldn't fit under the bed so we had to get a new bed (typical). Once we figured all that out we spent the next day we toured the sights of our beautiful capital all day! The Vietnam Memorial was especially moving because whole units of vets were there in honor of their fallen comrades. It was quite the experience. Then this morning I got up and went to training, and started learning all about the fun things that are built into this wonderful program. So my final thought is "this is gonna be an amazing summer and I HAVE to get a job at the end of it so I can stay in this amazing city"

Ironic!

Hey Guys!
It has been a while!  I intended to keep this up as I went through college.  But... as you can tell I got pretty busy.  I used the title ironic because right before I started writing this mom read the title I used when I began my freshman year, Rolling Into a New World.  I cannot believe four years has gone by so fast, it does not seem possible that I will graduate in December. It is ironic because it is once again what I am about to do, roll into a new world!

It is the eve before I fly out to Washington DC to begin a summer internship there.  The internship is sponseored by The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD).  I will be doing my internship at the US Department of Education!

Tonight I am nervous, and excited!  I doubt I will sleep much at all!  I am going to try to update this a few times a week.  I hope you will join me on this journey!

Anxious and excited!

Countdown

Who would of thought I'm almost done with my first semster of college?  Wow!  I am ready for a break though I must admit.  There was a new development today.  The door to my hall and lobby where fixed so that all I have to do is press a button to open them...that is very cool. Now, if I could just get something like that on the door to my room.  I would love to be able to get into my room independently.  I'm looking forward to tomorrow because, our senate simulation is taking place.   I mentioned it in an eariler blog that it would be good pratice for what I want to persue as a career.  So, that should be interesting.  After the Thanksgiving Hoilday it's crunch time one week left.  If anybody has any good  tips on how to study for finals let me know.  I want to be prepared and not get too stressed about them!

Winging It!

Hey Guys

I can't really think of a particular topic to discuss so I'm just going to talk about this week.  I got all of my stress out the way, I can breathe again.  So, I'm laid back, and now all I have to do is to research Arland Spector for a senate simulation which I am actually looking forward to anyway.  I think it will be good practice for me considering that I want to do this type of thing for my career.  Guys keep sending me ideas so I will have something to talk about next time.

I Just Wish I Could Make A Fist

Like any other person I have stress.  I have to write a ten page book report for Tuesday. That's six days away.  Also, for Economics I have a group project due before we get out for Thanksgiving break, we just started.  In Government I have to research for a senate simulation and write a bill.  My problem is I can't find any stress relievers due to my disability.  I can't punch any thing because I have crooked fingers.  Well, I could play football on my 360 but, as you all know I tend to get too excited and break things.  Having a disability and being a hyperactive person can make you wired! I'm open to any outputs of stress.
